EGR TUBE
Used for
ducting exhaust gas by way of an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve back
to the intake manifold thus reducing the level of toxic emissions.Makes assembly
to the engine easier and absorbs thermal and vibrational stresses in the EGR
system.
Design solution for thermal expansion
Cleaner -burning petrol and diesel engines are being developed with lightweight
cast-aluminum cylinder heads and aluminum or plastic manifolds. The very hot
exhaust gasrecirculation (EGR) stream must be ducted externally to prevent
heat damage to these critical aluminum alloy and plastic engine components.
The application challenge
The typical external (EGR)tube is mounted between the exhaust manifold(or
crossover pipe) and the EGR control valve with a second tube routing can from
the valve to the inside manifold .Because the gas temperature gas exceed 9000C(16500F) ,the resulting thermal loads on the components can cause early valve, tube,
or manifold failure . In addition , short rigid pipes can be almost impossible
to install due to engine tolerance stack-up between the manifolds and the
EGR valve.
